Dédé, the handyman: who am I ?

You'll find here an explication of my route, why I develop this site and how to contact me.
I'm born in Uccle (Brussels periphery) in 1968.
I learn latin-sciences in college, but also photography and art to draw in an academy.
Then next, I finish a graduate level in advertising.
And I discover that I was not a creative man!
So, I follow classical photoengraving courses (optical camera,... ).
That sounds good for me. School period ends and I try to find a job while waiting to be freed of my military obligations.
A judoka friend asks me to work with him.
A MacPlus, Freehand 2, Pagemaker 3: the mac-mania bewitches me!
And I suddenly understands that the silvery photography is going to downtrend...
I start giving judoka courses and get my first true job: work in print shop.
We were two: the boss and me. It was a classical printer job: bying bromide, publication draft lay down on carton,...
My boss's son forces us the install the first Mac: an LC with 4MB Ram and a "80 MB" hard disk!:-)
We use it to built the make-up, we enlarge them to 200 or 400 % and we reduce them with the help of a camera
Next, comes the scanner (10 MB Ram max!).
In 1991, I buy a second hand SE30 for nearly 1200 euros.
Then a IIcx (for the colour and the wider screen)
A Quadra 700... still a second hand machine.
At the office, we buy a Quadra 650, a 17'' and 19'' screen.
The Xerox machine market starts to fall down...
A 8100 replaces my Quadra, then soon after a 4400 (300 euros).
A Duo 230, quickly replaced by a PB 540 also appears in my home.
My boss makes more and more boat's reparations (his hobby) and me, because of my experience on the Mac platform, I start to make more and more Mac-repairs around me...
-> I have a big suitcase wiht an external CD drive, an external hard drive, my PB 540 (BNC, 5 RJ-45 ports, tape drive for backup,...)
Last but not least, after 10 years, I leave the image market to work in a communication company where I have to cake care of my customer's computers and phones infrastructure
I buy a B and B G3 350 and (my first new Mac), an 600mHZ iBook.
The B and B has just been replaced by a 450 bi-processors G4, which is very noisy!
Why this site
For many different reasons...
First of all, because I really appreciate to find on the Web a solution to some of my problems... -> so I decide to do the same by publishing my own experiences on repairing Macs.
And I hope this site will help more than one!
Then, I'm present on several discussion lists about the macintosh.
I discover that the same problems always are repeated on these lists. I then globally prefer to make a tutorial and post it here instead of answering to the same question indefinitivly ;-).
This site is therefore for me an easy, affordable way to share information about the Macs .
