 | As usual, I cannot be responsible for any damage to
your machines when you will experiment the following
         tutorial.

Well, as I don't have any burner in my Pismo anymore
(sold), I decided to install a Toshiba SD-R6472,
         tray-loading DVD+-R 8x superdrive (I promised it in
         another
         article).

To remember, I fit the original LG faceplate on a Toshiba
SD-R2312 and SD-R2412, so Why not the Toshiba Superdrive ?

For the installation of the drive in the bay, check the
         first pictures there (SD-R2312
         link) or there (UJ-835).

          1)
Once installed in the Pismo, and System Profiler
launched, it is not... funny. We can see that :

          a) It is not supported by the iApps

          b) The drive is slave (1) and to boot the Pismo, it must
         be master (0)

          2)
Supported by Toast from scratch, 7 minutes to burn 4.4 Gb
         of data. A real pleasure.

          3)
 Run Patchburn 3 and...

          4)
There it is: ready for iTunes and DiscBurner.

          5)
THE tricky part for some of you: a little welding point
to jump pins 45 and 47 and force the drive in master (0).

          6)
Done!!! The Pismo boots now on CD or DVD with the C key
         pushed, for example.

          7)
The original Toshiba plate. Black, but ugly!!!

          8)
 Unclip the 3 clips ,
the 4th clip will come easily. 9)
 Not easy...

          10)
Not easy (bis). Hopefully, the 2 Eject buttons are
luckily at the right place!!! 11)
I cut out the 3 brackets off the LG faceplate, and narrowed the widest . 12)
Clipped back, glued on 3 places, centered in the Pismo
         while the glue was drying.

Indeed, you can't see the difference. Nice, isn't it?

What? You think it's not the DVD-burner behind the plate?

          So, go next.

          13)
Origiinal LG is on the left.

          14)
 The 2 bays outside, side-by-side.

          15)
 Little zoom on the burner.

Conclusion: You know what? I'm happy.

Still have 2 superdrives for sale. Please contact me:
